The Redwoods Forest
The Whakarewarewa (Redwoods) Forest is one of the jewels in the crown of Rotorua. It has become one of our most spectacular natural assets and is enjoyed by walkers, mountain bikers, hikers and nature lovers alike. Come and see what everyone is raving about with an invigorating walk through the forest on one of the many free walking tracks.
If you’re a bit more adventurous, try the Redwoods Tree walk, a 600m Eco tourism walk made up of 23 suspension bridges traversing between 22 massive redwood trees. The walk can be done day or night (under lights) and takes you up to 20m high in the forest canopy. A ‘must do’ when visiting Rotorua!
Make a visit to one of our sparkling lakes scattered around the region.
Take a cruise on Lake Rotorua on the Lakeland Queen Paddle Steamer and jump on a WWII amphibious landing craft ‘the duck’.
Relax in one of the natural hot pools on the side of Lake Tarawera or explore any one of our lakes and rivers in search of that fish of a lifetime!
