Rotorua is well known as the home of mountain biking in New Zealand. Come and experience our trails for yourself – they truely are some of the best in the world!
Pōhutu (‘poor-hoo-too’) is the largest active geyser in the southern hemisphere. She erupts once or twice every hour and sometimes reaches heights of 30 metres (100 feet). Pōhutu means ‘constant splashing’ in Māori.
BUBBLING MUD POOLS
Bubbling mud pools can be found all over the city, bubbling and plopping away. The steaming bursts of mud reach temperatures of up to 95°C (about 200 °F). Sit and watch them for a while – they’re mesmerising.
